Gracie at 9 months

Just an update on what Gracie Rose has been up to. Our baby girl is now 9 1/2 months old and so much is going on! Is anyone else familiar with the idea of "Wonder Weeks?" Boy, are we right in the middle of it! It's a really neat idea that there are certain weeks (9 months is a major one) where babies are not only making major leaps developmentally but more importantly around this time there is also major cognitive leaps that are happening that you can't see. However, what you can see is a baby that seems more restless (sleeping even less!) because they are doing some intense brain work. Yep, that's Gracie right now, she has so much going on! Here's some things she's up to...

SIGNING! She has been picking up signs rather quickly lately. She can sign "MORE", "EAT/FOOD", "BOOK" and "DOG". She is also starting to understand signs when I sign to her without talking. Here she is demonstrating "MORE"
Here she is in action signing "MORE" because she wanted to try another bite of pancakes. Oh, and apparently her foot is signing "Hi!"

She babbles a lot but is starting to say a few words. She can say "Ma-ma" and "Da-da" (sometimes "Da-da" is "A-da") She says "Bay" for baby (either dolls or when she sees herself in the mirror) and she says "Buh-Bye" (very Southern-like). She also says "Buh, buh, kuh, kuh" for book. Speaking of books, they are one of her favorite things. She has her favorites that she picks from a stack every day. And if you walk by a room that has one of her books in sight, she will about leap out of your arms trying to get to it!
She LOVES baby dolls. Sometimes she kisses them, sometimes she just chews on them, but anyway she love them!Yep, she's trying to do a lot of feeding herself these days. So much fun but what a mess! She's pulling up on everything. It's always a bit alarming the first time you walk in the nursery and see your little baby standing up in the crib smiling at you! She is so funny because she pulls up on you then tries to pry your hands off her. Of course she can't stand up without your help, but boy does she want to try!
Feet are so much fun! She also is pretty quick to take her own diaper off the second she can get to it!

She's getting around pretty well. I'll try to post a crawling video soon. Although, at the rate she's going I might be posting a walking video soon!
