One year ago today we met our Gracie Rosemarie. How has this year flown by so quickly? She was two days late but arrived very quickly being delivered by her daddy on that cool September night. (I'm a MAJOR advocate for natural, unmedicated, NO medical intervention birthing--just ask me about it!) :)
She came in a hurry and hasn't stopped since. She showed us from the beginning that she was a determined little girl who wanted to do everything by herself. She is such a wonderful blend of a sweet little girl who is so caring with her baby dolls, cuddly with her big sister, smiley at everyone and loves to be held and yet a tough little cookie who started climbing UP the slide without any help at 10 months old, walking before 11 months and curious about how everything works and fits together. She started getting her arms out the car seat at 6 months old and is absolutely fascinated with how buckles work.
She has been signing since 8 months. She can now sign, MORE PLEASE, EAT, BOOK, BALL, PUPPY, MOUSE, DUCK, FINISHED, CHANGE, MILK, BABY, SLEEP. It is so great to see Tess signing with her--click to see my blog entry on Tess signing. She has quite a few verbal words as well, with her favorite being "Apple" (I was watching a cooking show just today and they were using an apple. Gracie came running asking "Apple?Apple?" She wanted to make sure she didn't miss out on any!) Her other two favorite phrases right now are "That" and "Hereyago" (here you go.) She also always attempts to say "Amen" when we pray and loves to say "Boo!" and play Peek-a-Boo.
Her other favorite things are rocking/feeding/kissing her baby dolls, unrolling all the toilet paper as fast as she can, swinging on her new swing set (blog entry to come on our new custom made swing set welded by daddy), chasing her sister, DANCING (to any music she hears--she has to move--even the ice cream truck music!), being outside, being in water, playing in the dog's water bowl, climbing/standing on anything she shouldn't (rocking chairs, etc), NOT sleeping and NOT wearing clothes!
She has become the clown in the family, great at imitating and always trying to make us laugh. It's so cute how she also laughs whenever she hears someone else laugh. We are so blessed with this sweet, healthy little one and thank God always for the gift she is.
At a year old she is 20 pounds, 4 ounces (8 lbs, 6 oz at birth) and 28 3/4 inches. She has three teeth but lots of strawberry blond hair!
Since my scrapbooking days seem to be in the past for now, I think of this blog as my online scrapbook. Here is a little video of Gracie's first year. It's really for us as a keepsake but I hope you enjoy it, too!
Thank you, Jamin and Angie for the song! :)
And lastly, here are the cakes I made. Super fun ones to do!!

I absolutely LOVE the closing scene on that video!!! Reminds me of a few little people around here who are much happier running around free of their clothes...
