Easter 2009

Here are some pictures of our Easter happenings. We really missed Joel who was in Italy for three weeks but had a great time celebrating the resurrection!

Here are my darlings on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.

Dyeing eggs on the porch.
Tess' egg creations. A carrot, a ladybug and a bunny.
Here are the girls making Resurrection Rolls for breakfast at my parent's house. Tess is saying "marshmallow" and Gracie is saying, "cheese!" I've never had them come out exactly like they should but boy are they yummy. Nothing like a good sugar rush to start Easter morning!
Gracie sneaking a taste.
Speaking of my little Gracie Rosie sneaking treats, she has a major sweet tooth. We hadn't even officially started the candy Easter egg hunt and she had already found one, opened it up and was enjoying the M&Ms before we caught her. Although this is proving to be handy with potty training. Just mention "cake" (she calls all sweets "cake") and she will do anything you want! I'm not above bribery!
My mom put together another Easter egg hunt together with hand drawn clues to find a BIG surprise.
Each picture clue led Tess to another clue which eventually lead her to a pile of puzzle pieces that she had to put together to find out what the surprise was.
The puzzle was a picture of the circus. My parents got us 4th row tickets to the circus while we were in DC! Tess has been talking about going to the circus for months so she was obviously beyond thrilled! (It was amazing!)
This year we did Resurrection Eggs and opened one each night leading up to Easter. Each egg has a different part of the Easter story starting with a donkey for the triumphal entry on Palm Sunday to an empty egg showing the empty tomb.

Tess couldn't wait to open her daily egg and would clearly tell us what each egg represented As a parent, watching your child understand what Easter really means was the greatest joy of all.
